Disappearing Nail Bed Syndrome - Featuring Dr. Marlene Ried

Objectives:
  1. To have a better understanding of the anatomy of the nail unit
  2. To have a better appreciation for the dynamic relationship of the nail unit components
  3. To obtain a fuller understanding of various causes of ingrown nails beyond what we are taught including the relationship of the lateral nail folds
  4. To understand the term "Disappearing Nail Bed Syndrome" in terms of the dynamic nail plate and soft tissue relationship
  5. To learn how an apparently shrunken nail bed can be modified cosmetically
  6. To understand how a cosmetic nail procedure may improve not only appearance and allow for desired footwear; but has the potential to improve insecurities and self-confidence.
  7. To learn the science of resins fabricated specifically for the unique environment for toenails.
  8. To understand the forces involved in changing the contour of a nail plate during nail regrowth.
Biography: Dr. Marlene Reid was a long time Board of Director for the Illinois Podiatric Medical Association serving in all officer positions as well many years as delegate to the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA).

She is also a long-term member of the Illinois State Podiatric Licensing Board and is the is the immediate Past President of the Federation of Podiatric Medical Boards which oversees all state licensing boards in the country.
